The mission of Bono Baptist Church is to carry out three main pillars of work for God's Kingdom. These are: Gathering, Growing, and Going. These three pillars of our mission are derived from Hebrews 10:19-25. We endeavor to keep our focus on Christ and His Kingdom. To this end we incorporate all three pillars of our mission into every aspect of our church life.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:19-25).
Our mission is to be committed to gathering in the name of Jesus Christ. Gathering is meeting in a community of like faith for support, encouragement, and corporate worship. As we gather, it is for our benefit as well as the benefit of others. Gathering together gives us the opportunities to exercise the spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit has imparted to us in love and service to one another for God's glory. Gathering also gives us the opportunities to follow the scriptures’ mandates to edify and exhort one another (1 Peter 4:10).
We also gather with the church to establish a visible presence of Christ’s Kingdom within our community. The local church serves as an embassy of Christ’s Kingdom here on earth as we are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20).
We are committed to growing the saints by being equipped & equipping others for the work of kingdom ministry as we all grow in our faith. Part of our mission is to help each other grow in Christ. We provide support and encouragement to one another. We promote sanctification for each other and hold each other accountable to the standards of Christ. We work to restore those who stumble in their Christian walk. We pray for, support, and love each other as members of God’s family.
Our mission includes a commitment to go into all the world to make disciples of Jesus Christ. In every aspect of what we do as a church, we endeavor to use good works so that they serve to bring lost people to the place where they can glorify God. The good works that are produced among the church are those things that lead others to know Jesus Christ. The church is commissioned to be soul winners for Christ by going out in the name of Jesus.
